The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) is primarily responsible for enforcing all aspects of the Ohio Fire Code (OFC), which was adopted by the City of Wickliffe on July 12, 2006. The OFC addresses new and existing construction and operations. The FPB also utilizes National Fire Protection Association Standards where referenced by the OFC. In addition to the OFC, the FPB enforces specifications for the installation of fire protection systems including, but not limited to, fire alarms, sprinklers, standpipes, fire hydrants, and fire lanes. This document also outlines the Division's fire prevention plan, which guides implementation of the community's fire defense program.
The Fire Prevention Bureau has responsibilities in the following areas as provided for by the State of Ohio, Lake County, and City of Wickliffe regulations:
•Plan Review and Practices
•Site Plan Reviews
•Preliminary Building Plans
•Final Building Plans and Specifications
•Certificates of Occupancy
•Fire Cause and Determination
•Acceptance Testing of New and Modified Extinguishing and Special Hazard Systems
